July 2005 - EPLAN Software & Services LLC has teamed up with MCC’s Workforce Development Institute (WDI) to expand the delivery of EPLAN 21 user training to a broader range of controls hardware designers. This close collaboration will allow both EPLAN and MCC-WDI to consolidate knowledge and experience in the development and deployment of EPLAN 21 software training programs.

 The first training program instituted at the WDI is a specialized version of the standard EPLAN 21 Basic Training course called “EPLAN 21 Basics for GM.” This course is specifically designed for the employees of General Motors Corporation and its suppliers to teach them how to create wiring diagrams with EPLAN 21 software using GM’s standards. It’s also an integral part of EPLAN’s continuous commitment to seamlessly integrate the design and equipment suppliers into GM’s EPLAN system. The first “EPLAN 21 Basics for GM” class at MCC-WDI’s new M-TEC (Michigan Technical Education Center) facility was offered last August and over the next ten months nearly 150 controls hardware design engineers received their certificates of completion. The four-day course is offered two or three times a month and the employees of GM and its authorized suppliers can sign up for classes on http://www.macomb.edu/WDI/GM-CCRW/default.asp.

 In their next venture, EPLAN and MCC-WDI have joined forces to make the standard EPLAN 21 Basic Training program available to a greater number of controls hardware designers and design engineers from a variety of diverse industries. Participants of the class can acquire the fundamental understanding of the software’s concepts and functions, and apply those skills and knowledge in their respective companies’ own design environments. Further expansion of EPLAN course offerings at the MCC-WDI, including advanced, update, API (Application Programming Interface) and DIN Standards, is expected in the coming months.
